Dine In Style With DFDS

November 20, 2019

When heading on holiday part of the enjoyment is the food you try. Enjoying a leisurely drink at a laid-back bar, sampling some authentic cuisine in a local restaurant or enjoying a coffee and cake in a street-side café. With DFDS you can do all of that before you’ve even arrived at your destination.

On our ships we have a range of dining options, from light bites to à la carte meals. Read on to find out more. Your mouths will be watering as soon as you step onboard.

Dover to France

On our short crossings from Dover to France we have The Lighthouse Café, which offers colourful cakes, bean to cup coffee and healthy snacks to keep you going on the 90 minute or 2 hour journey to France. If you’d prefer a sit-down meal, the 7 Seas Restaurant is a self-service eatery with a selection of hot and cold meals to suit all tastes. What’s more, you can enjoy your meal with stunning sea views. For those of you travelling on our Dover to Calais ships, the Horizon restaurant has a mouth-watering range of pizzas, pastas and salads – some are even adorned with edible flowers, making the dishes a perfect Instagram shot. Our Field to Ferry concept celebrates the fresh, seasonal produce we use onboard, provided by our carefully selected suppliers. The quality ingredients used provide you with outstanding food with traceability and provenance at its heart.

Newhaven to Dieppe

If you travel with us on our Newhaven to Dieppe route, you can enjoy a range of dishes in Maupassant Self-Service Restaurant. With breakfast, lunch and dinner options available depending on what time you travel, we like to make sure our passengers are satisfied. With vegetarian options and a special children’s menu, there is something for everyone so you will arrive in Dieppe feeling full.

If you’d prefer a cool drink and snacks on your four-hour crossing, Beachy Head bar is the place for you. Situated in our split-level lounge, with stunning sea-views, Beachy Head Bar has a range of fine French wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks so you can relax and enjoy your crossing while sipping something lovely. You can also buy a range of snacks and sandwiches if you don’t fancy a main meal.

Newcastle to Amsterdam

Dining onboard our Newcastle – Amsterdam ships is a fantastic experience. The overnight crossing gives you the experience of travelling by hotel, with quality dining options and an overnight stay. The North Sea Bistro offers exquisite dishes made from the finest quality, seasonal ingredients, which are regionally sourced. An extensive wine list complements the food perfectly and the range of desserts are to die for. For a special evening meal, the North Sea Bistro won’t disappoint. If you’d prefer something more laid back, the Explorer’s Restaurant offers dishes from around the globe in a self-service style restaurant. With vegetarian, gluten free and vegan options as well as child-friendly options, there’s something to please all palates. If you’re not looking for a main meal but would prefer a hot drink and a snack, the Coffee Crew café serves Starbucks coffee, cakes, pastries and sandwiches. Plus, it’s situated right by the children’s play area so while the little ones let off steam, you can relax.

Travelling with DFDS isn’t just a means of transport. It’s part of the journey. We like to make sure our passengers are happy and that includes being well fed. We can’t wait to see you onboard soon – hope you’re hungry!
