One market where you can find this tasty gratification is the travelling Pure Market that comes to Amstelpark on the 11 June. This market is the perfect place to discover the feast of food Holland has to offer; make sure you grab a slice of Dutch’s heavenly Gouda Cheese! For something as scrumptious yet slightly healthier, join the Dutch Raw Food Festival on the 18 June. This unique festival offers a range of yummy raw food treats, whilst hosting workshops on how to make raw chocolate as well as indulgent chocolate tasting sessions!

Art

Make sure you don’t miss Amsterdam’s thriving art scene while you’re there. Let your imagination run wild in the city’s multitude of art, film and photography exhibitions. Interested in current affairs? Go over to De Niewe Kerk in Dam square to observe the world’s most prestigious collections of professional press photography at the annual World Press Photo contest. To escape from all of the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam, simply make your way to the little town of Naarden for FotoFestival (until 18 June). Both modern and traditional photography is exhibited throughout the town. Naarden is picturesque in its own right; the unique layout of this fortified town actually resembles a giant snowflake!

Finish your cultural trip with an Amsterdam sunset at the open-air cinema at Pllek Films with a View. Every Tuesday until 29 August cuddle up with a blanket and get hopelessly romantic along the water watching cult classics.

Architecture

After exploring the world of art it’s time to observe the surroundings. Amsterdam’s stunning architecture is a fusion of both 17th century roots and cutting-edge design elements; making the city an architectural jewel. 18 June is the annual celebration, Architecture Day, where you can enjoy a tour around the city. Let the experts share their knowledge and learn the stories behind these magnificent buildings, including the narrowest house in the world!

Theatre

Amsterdam’s rich array theatrical and musical culture definitely puts the city into the limelight. June is a great month to see what there is to offer. From the finest ballerinas to political performances, this event is a true representation of Amsterdam’s talent.

As the month of June has such marvellous weather, head into Vondelpark to continue your theatre trip. The park opens its gates to all theatre lovers with their Open Air Theatre, presenting a range of artistic disciplines including comedy and music.

Those of you that appreciate the soulful side of music will love the musically-inspired Rhythm and Roots exhibition at the Tropenmuseum, a celebration of how influential African and Caribbean culture has been on the music we know and love today. Dance the night away and discover the true rhythm of jazz, hip-hop and salsa!

Flora

Now it’s time to let you in on a secret… Well it’s actually secret gardens. Arguably one of Amsterdam’s best kept secrets, for one weekend only (16-18 June) the Museum Van Loon opens its splendid private gardens up to the public. With over 30 gardens, it’s quiet easy to lose yourself in all its enchantment.

To escape the crowds take a water taxi to the charming village Aalsmeer. Here you can discover their annual Flower Festival (16 – 18 June) which is always brimming with art, food and, of course, flowers! Those with green fingers expect head to the flower arranging in workshops and hear what the experts have to say.
