Outdoor Activities in Cote d’Opale

September 2, 2015

With our ferry routes from Dover to Dunkirk and Calais, it’s no surprise that many of our customers seek to enjoy all that northern France has to offer. One of the most popular reasons that people head to northern France, however, is to enjoy the outdoor activities that are on offer in the region, particularly in the beautiful Cote d’Opale area.

The Cote d’Opale is a gorgeous expanse on France’s northern coast and part of the popular Nord-Pas-de-Calais region.

With a number of stunning, sweeping beaches, there’s no shortage of water-sports and other beach-related activities to be enjoyed by visitors.

Head to Le Touquet and explore the golden, sandy beach by Segway with Mobilboard Le Touquet. Alternatively, hire a bike from La Baleine Royale and get exploring at your own pace! Catch the breeze at Wimereux beach, with its spectacular kitesurfing, a must-do for thrill-seekers! Or head to Boulogne-Sur-Mer for Le Char a Voile Club de la Cote d’Opale, where you can hop in a kitebuggy and cruise along the sand at high speeds. It’s just as much fun as it sounds!

Bleriot Plage is a great spot for yachting enthusiasts, with Yacht Club de Calais well-stocked for yachters of all abilities. You can also sail, surf and swim at just about any of the beaches in the region.

Golf is a popular tourist attraction in the Cote d’Opale, with a number of courses around the region ideal for those seeking to sink a hole or 2. 2 of the most popular courses are the ones located in Wimereux and Le Touquet, with wide fairways and beautiful views.

With so much to do in idyllic setting of the Cote d’Opale, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better active, outdoorsy holiday so close to home, whether you’re a couple, a family or if you’re heading out with friends.
