Luxury Break to Amsterdam

November 2, 2016

Holland’s amazing capital is one which blends the classic and the modern seamlessly, conserving the wonderful outward aesthetics of its beautiful baroque architecture, but with a rebel heart which has made it one of the most progressive and modern capital cities in the whole of Europe, if not the world.

This makes Amsterdam an amazing place to really treat yourself when on holiday, with a range of high-end restaurants, hotels, bars and more. Amsterdam is also world-famous for the production and sale of diamond jewellery.

We’ve compiled a list of some of the most luxurious and extravagant things you can do in Amsterdam, so if you’re looking for an extravagant break this year then look no further!

Getting there in style

Rumour has it that the word “posh” comes from ferry travel, where the richest customers would travel “Port Out, Starboard Home”. Whether this is true or not, it shows that ferry travel has been associated with luxury for generations now, and it’s no different now.

Our premium Commodore and Commodore De Luxe cabins are the perfect way to travel in style, with large spacious cabins including a TV, radio, a free mini bar, a large en suite bathroom and plenty more. You’re sure to enjoy a luxurious crossing, no matter what time of year you’re setting sail. You’ll also get access to the Commodore Lounge, where you can enjoy free Wi-Fi, complimentary food and drink and stunning sea views.

Why not get your journey off to the best possible start by having champagne, beer, wine or snacks waiting for you in your cabin as soon as you board? You’ll also be able to treat yourself to a wonderful meal at our Explorers Steakhouse or Blue Riband à la carte restaurant.

Where to stay?

While we offer 4 star hotels with our hotel break deals, if you’re looking for a little more lap of luxury in your accommodation then you can certainly find it in Amsterdam.

The best way to find amazing accommodation is to check out our sister site, who have something for every taste, budget and requirement.

What to do in Amsterdam

So now you’ve got to Amsterdam and settled down in your luxury hotel, you’re going to be looking for something pretty special to do while you’re there.

If you’re looking for the finest drinks made by the best mixologists in Amsterdam, head to Door 74 or Hidden in Plain Sight, two of the city’s most exclusive hidden speakeasies. Here you’ll be able to sample amazing cocktails made with wonderful ingredients in comfort and privacy.

The Skybar in the new Adam Tower offers spectacular views and amazing drinks, and be sure to check out Vesper Bar too. If he were real, James Bond would literally drink here.

If you’re looking for a bite to eat in the city, then there are many high-end, fine-dining restaurants. Ciel Bleu serves up wonderfully wayward dishes with fascinating flavour combinations, all in the gorgeous surroundings of the enormous Okura Hotel’s 23rd floor. The views have to be seen to be believed. Meanwhile La Oliva is a basque-inspired tapas and wine restaurant with an incredible offering of Spanish wines and L’Invite serves up scaled-down French food fare.

Amsterdam’s famous luxury shopping street P.C Hooftstraat, is known throughout the world as a prime shopping destination for more affluent customers. In fact it was recently named the 3rd nicest shopping street in the world!

Check out SPRMRKT and its neighbour SPR+, which have been redeveloped from old supermarkets to an emporium for hipster and vintage furniture, maybe you can pick up something for back home!

Coster Diamonds is one of the oldest diamond factories in Amsterdam, at almost 200 years old, and is still popular with diamond-tourists to this day. Alternatively, buy custom jewellery at Van Amstel Diamonds for a truly memorable gift or souvenir.

After suffering the recent loss of our budgie, this break would certainly help us overcome the tragedy. Our pet budgie, Alfonso was given only three months to live after being diagnosed with tweetitus. Alfonso the Budgie spiralled out of control into a life of alcholism, drugs and prostitution, before we new it Alfonso was burying his beak into Key's of cocaine, drinking every minute of the day and having his way with filthy street pigeons. After the upset and trauma of losing our beloved Alfonso i believe we could do with cheering up and this break would be perfect.
