Amsterdam Restaurant Week

March 24, 2016

British tourists should be familiar with Restaurant Week, where restaurants offer special set menus at great prices, for one week only. Restaurant Week also occurs outside of the UK, and is a biannual event in Holland, which is perfect if you happen to be travelling at the time.

Reservations can be made online from about a month in advance, and it’s best to get in early, as the best offers and restaurants tend to sell out quickly!

This year, Restaurant Week in Holland kicks off on 30 March and lasts until 10 April. While Amsterdam will likely be the main destination for British tourists, you’ll also be able to find Restaurant Week offers in other cities such as Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and more, with more than 750 restaurants taking part.

One of the best Restaurant Week offers this year comes from Bridges, the Michelin-starred fish restaurant in Amsterdam, who will be offering a surprise menu with limited seats available. The restaurant has also been transformed recently, with a new design inspired by the canal on which it sits.

Another surprise menu is available at Scossa, which serves fine Italian cuisine in a contemporary, casual and cool environment. The delicious antipasti and pasta dishes are the highlights here, all served in a high-energy but comfortable environment, with a view overlooking historic Amsterdam.

Head to the Hoofdstad Brasserie for traditional French cooking mixed with chic, cool Amsterdam style. This restaurant also has a magnificent view from its terrace, right across the Amstel River to the historic Mint Tower.

Outside of Amsterdam, head to FG in Rotterdam for a truly unforgettable dining experience. Having been awarded 2 Michelin Stars, you can be assured of the quality of this establishment, and you’re sure to find something on the menu to tantalise your tastebuds.

Alternatively, Fred is another Rotterdam restaurant with 2 Michelin Stars offering a special Restaurant Week menu. Run by famous Dutch chef Fred Mustert, this restaurant has been on top of the Dutch gastronomy game for years, so why not treat yourself a little?
